Tofino, BC

Updated: Sep 2, 2023

I arrived at Tofino on Monday, June 26, and spent 7 nights there. When Portia and I entered Canada through Blaine, WA, and into Vancouver on June 6, my plan was to spend a week on the BC mainland and explore Vancouver City then ferry over to Vancouver Island and drive to Tofino. But, due to wildfires on Vancouver Island, there was no way to get there. I chose instead to ferry to Hornby Island and then stay in Victoria until the road opened up.

Tofino is on the west coast of the island and is known for its beaches and surfing lifestyle. It is a little like you took the southern California coast such as Newport, Huntington, and Laguna, and dropped it on the Vancouver Island coast. Except the weather and landscape are just not quite the same. However, as you look around, the SoCal surfer look is everywhere. It was a nice visit and a beautiful place if you ever get the chance to visit. It is worth the trip.
