Central Coast, Death Valley, and oh the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks

Updated: Sep 2, 2023

Ya, that's right, I'm an Elk. On April 18 I completed my initiation into the order so ya....I'm an Elk. Now I can camp at Elk'clubs not to mention meals, refreshments, etc...

I haven't felt like writing. I've just been enjoying the journey. Not that writing prevents me from enjoyment, it's quite the contrary. However, it needs to be natural, not forced. If it feels forced move on until it doesn't.

Since my last post, I've relished my time with friends and incredible beauty. From my time on the central coast to Death Valley, a beautiful drive through the super-bloom on the way through Tehachapi, back to Refugio State Beach near Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, and currently the lost coast of California specifically Shelter Cove. If you've been there, you know. It's incredible.

Portia and I are doing well visiting with old friends, making new friends, hiking, swimming, and appreciating. Below are a few pics of Death Valley, Three Rivers near Visalia, Refugio State Beach, Santa Barbara, and Pismo Beach. My next post will have Napa, Healdsburg/Santa Rosa, and Shelter Cove.

It's good to get caught up with your travels. I hope you're finding rejuvenation along the way. You're seeing portions of America with a close-up perspective that few others get to appreciate. Beautiful photos! Happy traveling and enjoy your upcoming get together in Jackson Hole.

Thanks Jim. Looking forward to seeing Debi and Bill they should arrive early this evening. You're right about seeing the country in a more personal way. When you're on vacation your busy looking at sights and checking the box on places you want to see but not so in my case. I'm realizing that all the beauty and wonderful locations are great, but its the conversations and experiences with other people that impact me more. I also think I need to include more people in my photos! I'm not a prolific photo taker but with the interesting people I've met and spoken with it would be nice to have a pic.

Take care Jim and thanks for the note.
