About Me

I grew up in Southern California in La Canada, CA.  I’m the oldest of 5 kids. Dad was a high school coach and teacher, and Mom cared for the kids.  I grew up Catholic and attended catholic schools throughout elementary and high school. I lived in Southern California, the Central Coast of California, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, Utah, Arizona, Washington State, San Diego, and Dallas. I went to college, owned a landscaping business when I was young, and was a volunteer fireman.  I got married for the first time in my 20s. Then went to work for an oil company and had a 36-year career before retiring in June 2015. I've been married, divorced, and widowed. I have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren who live in Montana.

 

As of January 2, 2023, my little Border Collie Portia and I started living and traveling full-time in an Airstream. I guess we're nomads. I try not to label and name things because they become something else as soon as they are named. For example, when you hear the word "nomad" don't you envision flowing robes trekking across the desert looking for anything?  That's not us. We departed Dallas for the west coast and wherever the road took us. We live and travel in a 2020 23' Airstream towed by a Dodge Ram 1500. We are visiting friends, family and creating many new relationships.  I was compelled to make this change through a series of life events. I know now that everything is perfect and happening just as it should. I finally woke up and realized that "I am the eyes of the world" - to paraphrase the Grateful Dead.  The lyrics are " You wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world." But that's exactly what happened. What I had been conditioned to believe is so important, isn't. We become hypnotized by the ten thousand things that dominate most of our lives. And they do... until they don't.
